EMERGENCYUK is a registered charity (England & Wales 1128569) established to promote a culture of peace, solidarity and the respect for human rights by providing free of charge, high standard medical and surgical care in war-torn areas. All Emergency facilities are designed, built and managed by specialized international staff committed to training local medical personnel.

We are not alone in believing that health care is an inalienable right.

In order to continue to advance our mission we are organising a fine art exhibition and auction taking place during the whole month of October 2009 at Unit 24 Gallery, South Bank, London. Money raised through this initiative will be channelled to fund the activities of the paediatric centre in Bangui, a satellite clinic of the Salam Centre for Cardiac Surgery of Khartoum (www.salamcentre.emergency.it) that once up and running will be able to extend our reach further and change many lives for the better.

More than twenty-five artists are involved in the “Emergency Art Auction and Exhibition”, and the works on display include paintings, sculptures, photographs and much more. One of the highlights of the exhibition is a painting by Polish born artist Antoni Malinowski, called 'Vermilion on Dark Green'. Antoni Malinowski works with pigment, light, movement and time, investigating the dynamic relationship that exists between pictorial and architectural spaces.

EMERGENCY UK invites you to the “Emergency Art Auction and Exhibition” from the 1st to the 29th October:

Opening times are:
Monday to Wednesday 8am–5pm
Thursday and Friday 8am–6.30pm
The gallery will also be open extended hours for special evening events on the 1st, 15th, 16th, 28th, and 29th October 2009, from 6.30pm until 10.30pm (please see flyer below).

The auction will be a silent auction, and throughout October bids can be placed directly at the Unit 24 Art Gallery, via fax, or via the EMERGENCY UK website - www.emergencyuk.org. The terms and conditions of the auction, together with the bid sheet and the catalogue of the artworks, will also be available on the website soon.

There will be two auction closing nights:
The 28th October, for artworks with a starting price
below £400; and the 29th October, Auction Night Grand Finale, for artworks with a starting price of £400 and above.

One-hundred percent of the proceeds of this auction will go to fund the work of the EMERGENCY Paediatric Centre of Bangui, in the Central
African Republic.

Major and emerging artists have donated their artworks for free. The art gallery Unit 24 has kindly offered to host the exhibition and consequent auction seeking no compensation at all.
